CHICAGO, IL, June 11, 2010 – United States Senator Roland Burris, of Illinois, will join veteran family law attorney and fathers’ rights advocate, Jeffery M. Leving on his “Fathers’ Rights Legal Show” (www.fathersrightsradio.com) in honor of Father’s Day on June 20th. Tune in and listen as Senator Burris discusses his thoughts on the powerful effect fathers have in the lives of their children. Senator Burris and Mr. Leving recently attended the Fathers Who Care Expo together on June 5th at Malcolm X College. “It’s such an honor to have Senator Burris join me on such a special day,” Leving said. “Father’s Day is my favorite holiday, not because I’m a man and a father myself, but because it celebrates fatherhood.” In this special Father’s Day edition, Leving and Burris will tackle timely and critical topics including the importance of fathers’ rights, youth violence and gangs, life after politics and diversity in the U.S. Senate. Both men are passionate about these issues and have dedicated their lives to fighting for social and legislative reform. Senator Burris serves on several committees in the Senate including the Armed Services Committee, the Veterans Affairs Committee and the Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee. Prior to his appointment in 2009, Burris worked for more than 30 years in both the public and private sector. In 1978, Mr. Burris was elected Comptroller of Illinois, making him the first African American ever to hold statewide office in Illinois.
