CHICAGO – Fathers’ Rights attorney Jeffery M. Leving, who has waged a crusade for 40+ years standing up for fathers, will receive national and state recognition for his
efforts at a speaking appearance on Sunday. Leving will be speaking at a pre-Fathers’ Day event hosted by State Sen. Napoleon B. Harris III (D-Harvey) on Sunday, June 11.
Leving will receive the Joe Biden Presidential lifetime Achievement Award for 2023, along with a proclamation from the Senator for his dedication to fathers. Leving is particularly grateful for the recognition from President Biden, whom he worked with when Mr. Biden was vice president and Leving served on President Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee.
“These are both great honors, and I accept them with a profound feeling of humility, because the real heroes are the courageous fathers who are willing to fight for what’s right,” Leving says. “I’ve known and represented many good fathers who dearly love their children, and don’t want to lose them in divorce or separation. But it takes real strength for these men to stand up and fight for their kids – and I see that strength demonstrated, time after time. We would not have made the progress we have made without fathers who’ve exhibited bravery, fortitude, resolution, perseverance, and love for their children, and I thank them for their tireless efforts.”
After the awards ceremony, Leving will give a speech about fighting for social justice, and then engage in a sit-down discussion with Sen. Harris on overcoming challenges
and advancing the efforts of African-American fathers.
Note to the media: The media are invited to come to the event. Mr. Leving will be available for interviews after his presentation.
