Using digital tools will be highlight of CLE at Leving law office

By Jennifer Whiteside

CHICAGO – The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd. will host the next presentation of the Arthur S. Kallow Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Seminar Series on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. CDT at 19 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago, and via Zoom.

Experienced matrimonial trial lawyer Jeffrey Paustian will be the keynote speaker. His topic will be: “How to practice law in a virtual world.” He will speak about using DocuSign, which enables people to sign legal documents remotely and using Zoom, for court appearances, meetings with clients and other meetings, as well as using other technology to practice law in a virtual world. In Cook County, for example, nearly all court appearances in the Domestic Relations Division are now conducted via Zoom, not in the courthouse.

Also, Michael Ochoa, a highly skilled matrimonial attorney, will present on: “Winning strategies in family law litigation in Illinois and throughout the nation.” Ochoa has litigated family law cases in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Wisconsin, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, California, Kansas, Florida and Minnesota.

“Being able to embrace the latest technology to be able to continue to practice law during the pandemic, and probably beyond, is an essential skill. We must be able to meet with clients and opposing counsel, as well as examine witnesses and successfully argue cases before judges, without setting foot in the courthouse,” says attorney Jeffery M. Leving, founder and president of the firm, who will facilitate the CLE session.

Travis Richardson, a former judge who now practices law at the Leving firm, will moderate a question-and-answer session following the presentations.

The Kallow CLE Seminar Series, which began in 2014, provides legal education to family law attorneys and other professionals looking to expand their legal knowledge. CLE credit will be awarded.

Please make reservations by emailing Jennifer Whiteside ([email protected]), as this program is close to its capacity.
