Making A Difference For Dads
Our Chicago based law firm has a demonstrated record of success on behalf of fathers in custody disputes arising in divorce and paternity cases, in related matters such as domestic violence protection orders, and in post-decree matters such as child abduction, parent relocation and modification of child support orders.
Peter Shayman earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Iowa.
Peter has devoted his legal career to zealously advocating for the rights of his clients, their children and families. Peter firmly believes that children flourish, and ultimately society benefits, when children have two active parents in their lives. In addition to family law matters, Peter has extensive experience handling criminal defense cases, including felonies, and juvenile court matters. A tough litigator, Peter’s years of experience in the courtroom have led to his impressive record of success in very difficult cases.
Important Legal Case Victories:
- Peter successfully tried a hotly contested custody case, and obtained a court order transferring custody of a minor child to his client, a great dad, after the mother, who previously had residential custody, violated a court order by moving the child out of state without notice or securing a court order allowing her to do so.
- Peter successfully defended his client against a false domestic abuse allegation, preventing the mother from obtaining an order for supervised parenting time, and securing his client’s right to unrestricted parenting time with his children.
